Christian parents must begin doing a better job raising their children in the ways of the Lord. God wants Christians to instill good virtue in their children. Parents must rear their children with the knowledge of Jesus Christ as soon as they are born. Love must be fully given to a developing child throughout their entire lives. Jesus is love and parents should act this way too. Christian parents must also discipline their children with love.
You're too Strict
speaks about a study of 2000 children who were identified as having "either high or low self-esteem. The high self-esteem children clearly had been more loved and appreciated; yet they had come from homes where their parents' approach to discipline was significantly more strict. Also, family ties were strongest in the homes where discipline and self-control were a way of life."
Children Love Discipline
Dr. James Dobson answers this question: "Everyone tells me that children love justice and law and order. If that is true, why doesn't my young son respond better when I talk reasonably with him about his misbehavior? Why do I have to resort to some form of punishment to make him listen to me?"
Raising a Responsible Child
,by C.J. LOVELAND, is an article from Biblical Worldview magazine. Loveland offers wonderful advice about how to rear a child in the ways of the Lord. Here's an excerpt:
Upon bringing that newborn home from the hospital, a schedule is instituted. This is the start of teaching responsibility. Don't wait until baby is six months or a year old. Establish order from the start. Our heavenly Father is not a God of chaos. He created an orderly world. It is man who injects chaos and disorderliness into the peaceful creation and then wonders why children behave badly.
